The novel has as its main themes (giving the title of the work) 's pride of class of Mr. Darcy and injury of Elizabeth Bennet against him.
The story focuses on events in the Bennet family, composed of Bennet and their five daughters: Jane , Elizabeth (friends Lizzy), Mary, Catherine (also known as Kitty) and Lydia. The objective was to Mrs. Bennet, given the lack of a son who could inherit their estate in Longbourn ' Hertfordshire, is to see at least one of his daughters married as soon as possible. Mrs. Bennet is a frivolous woman while Mr. Bennet is an intelligent, sarcastic and unpredictable. However, it is especially fond of Jane and Elizabeth, girl character sensible and reasonable.

Elizabeth goes to visit her and is host to Netherfierld to take care of her sister, and Darcy has the opportunity to deepen their knowledge with you and to discover, against his will, fascinated. This situation exacerbates the relationship between Elizabeth and Miss Bingley, who plans to conquer Darcy.


Meanwhile Longbourn is shaken by a new arrival: Mr. Collins, a cousin of the girls as well as pastor.
